I am Maartje, an Utrecht (NL)-based graphic designer that wants to make the world more beautiful; aesthetically as well as socially. I work in a beautiful, sustainable shared studio that makes me happy to cycle to work every day.
I'm a Graphic Design Bachelor (ArtEZ Arnhem, 2014) and specialised in Social Design (No Academy, 2016).
As I am always approaching my freelance and self-initiated projects from a social, feminist viewpoint, I love to conspire with my clients about creative ways in which the project can help improve the world. Next to that, colour is a very important tool for me. As a synesthete (having a connection between colour and language in the brain) I always have intuitive ideas about which colours suit your project best, and the result will never be boring.
In need of a designer? I take on all kinds of freelance graphic design projects, so send me a message with your idea! :)
Trying to tackle a social problem and in need of some out-of-the-box input? As a social designer and graphic facilitator, I help teams —from municipalities to party planners— to resolve problems in society with a fresh, creative view. Send me a message to find out what can be arranged!
My work is said to be 'impressive and qualitative' (Dutch Design Awards 2014), 'fantastical & very sharp at the same time' (Andrea Gulickx), 'deviant' (Ecodrukkers), 'funny and inventive' (ArtEZ teachers – some of them) & 'worth sharing' (my dad).
